      Computer Science Fundamentals for K-5 educators

      9 out of 10 parents want their child to learn Computer Science yet only 1 out of 4 schools teach it! (Gallop, 2016)           Code.org's elementary school curriculum allows even the youngest students to explore the limitless world of computing. Courses blend online, self-guided and self-paced tutorials with "unplugged" classroom activities that require no computer. Participants will receive  in-person instruction from experienced computer science facilitators an intro to computer science and pedagogy an overview of the online curriculum and teacher dashboard a printed curriculum guide containing course lesson plans strategies for teaching “unplugged” classroom activities a bag of Code.org swag Please bring a laptop with headphones. We do have a limited number of chromebooks that may be used during the workshop. Please email us to reserve one or select the option during registration. Target Audience: K-5 educators, including: • Administrators (site or district) • Instructional Coaches • Classroom teachers  Continental Breakfast and Lunch will be provided Registration begins at 8:00 am Cost: $20 deposit per participant We request a $20 deposit to hold your spot in this workshop. You will be reimbursed the $20 after attending the training. You may also transfer your attendance or cancel up 7 days prior to the workshop date for a full refund.
